How to Sync Android Contacts With Gmail: 5 Steps (with Pictures)

Syncing contacts between Gmail and your Android is a great way to avoid adding to many contacts by hand.
STEPS

HIT YOUR ANDROID MENU BUTTON AND SELECT "SYSTEM SETTINGS."

SELECT "ACCOUNTS & SYNC" FROM THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE THERE. This will be listed under "Personal."

CLICK THE "ON" BUTTON NEXT TO THE ACCOUNTS LABEL. Click on the Gmail option. This is the symbol with the blue background and the "g." You can check the icon with the green circular arrows to the right to make sure the active sync is on for gmail.

CHECK THE BOX NEXT TO "SYNC GMAIL." You can also check or uncheck other syncing aspects for Gmail such as photos, books, movies, and so on.

HIT THE MENU BUTTON AND CLICK "SYNC NOW" TO IMMEDIATELY SYNC CONTACTS.



TIPS
Make sure the constant sync is on in order to continually get new contacts you add synced.
WARNINGS
If you have a limited data plan, try to sync contacts over WIFI when possible.
