STEPS
METHOD 1 OF 2: USING THE IPHONE SETTINGS
1
OPEN SETTINGS. Tap the Settings icon on your home screen. 2
OPEN THE GENERAL CONTROL PANEL. Tap "General" in the Settings window to open the General control panel. 3
OPEN THE USAGE CONTROL PANEL. In the General control panel, tap Usage to open a list of all the apps and resources your iPhone uses. Your iPhone will take a couple moments to load in all your apps, sorted by size.
4
TAP "SHOW ALL APPS." Scroll to the bottom of the apps list, and if there's a button that says "Show all Apps," tap that to display a full list of everything on your phone. 5
REMOVE AN APP. Locate an app in the list that you rarely, if ever, use. Tap that app to open its info window, and begin the deletion process. Tap "Delete App." In the center of the screen, tap the large red "Delete App" button.
6
CONFIRM DELETION. Tapping "Delete App" will bring up a confirmation dialog. If you're sure you want to delete the app and all its data, tap "Delete App" again. Your app will be removed. Repeat this process for as many apps as required to recover the space you need.
METHOD 2 OF 2: USING ITUNES
1
CONNECT YOUR IPHONE TO YOUR COMPUTER. Launch iTunes, and when your phone is recognized, click on the iPhone icon in the top right of the window. 2
CLICK THE APPS TAB. To see a list of all the apps you've purchased, click on the Apps tab. You can sort by size, then scroll down the list to find apps that you don't need to keep on your iPhone. 3
CLICK THE REMOVE BUTTON. It will change to read "Will Remove." This will mark the selected app for deletion on your next sync. 4
MAKE A MUSIC PLAYLIST. Instead of loading in whole albums, which can take up a lot of space, try loading up your favorite songs in a folder created just for your iPhone. First, create a new playlist by clicking on the "+" button at the bottom left of the iTunes window. 5
MOVE SONGS INTO THE NEW PLAYLIST. Populate this list with as many songs as you like—keeping in mind the goal of freeing up space on your iPhone! 6
CLICK THE MUSIC TAB AT THE TOP OF THE ITUNES WINDOW. In the Sync Music section, Choose to "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" only, and make sure your iPhone playlist is checked in the Playlist section. 7
MAKE A PHOTO ALBUM. Cherish your loved ones and memorable moments, but be selective! Create a folder, and place all the photos you want to keep on your iPhone in that folder. Select "All folders" in the Sync Photos section, or you can use multiple folders and selectively add only those photos from a particular event or category by choosing "Selected folders." 8
SYNC YOUR IPHONE. When the process is complete, the selected apps will be removed, freeing up storage space.[1] TIPS
Your apps are still available via iTunes, even though they've been deleted from your iPhone.
Another great way to save space is to delete all but your very favorite songs and photos from your phone, and access your entire library via iCloud.
These methods work for all iOS devices.
You can also delete apps by tapping and holding an app icon till the apps start wiggling, then clicking on the black X at the top left of the icon.[2]
WARNINGS
When deleting apps with data, unless you've specifically stored the app's data in iTunes, that data will be deleted.
