STEPS
METHOD 1 OF 2: SETTING THE IPHONE\'S DEFAULT RINGTONE
1
TAP THE SETTINGS ICON. You can usually find it on the home screen: it's the icon that looks like gray gears. This will open the Settings control panel. 2
TAP "SOUNDS." In the Settings control panel, near the bottom of the window, you'll find the Sounds button. Tap that to access the Sounds control panel. 3
TAP "RINGTONE." At the bottom of the Sounds control panel window, you should see the Ringtone button, with the currently-selected sound indicated. Tap the Ringtone button to access the built-in tones. 4
PICK YOUR RINGTONE. You will see a list of 25 ringtones (as of iOS 6) listed. Click on them to give them a listen, and pick the one that is best suited for your needs or your tastes. METHOD 2 OF 2: SETTING A CONTACT\'S RINGTONE
1
SET INDIVIDUAL RINGTONES. The preceding steps will let you set the default ringtone for all callers, but that default can be overridden for individual callers. From the home screen, locate Contacts and tap to open it. 2
LOCATE A CONTACT. Click on their name in the contact list, then tap the "Edit" button in the top right of the screen. 3
THE SETTINGS. Scroll down the page until you find the button that says "ringtone Default >" and tap it. 4
SELECT A RING TONE. Locate a good ringtone, and tap set the for for that contact. You can pick from either the list of available ringtones, or you can also choose one of the Alert tones if you like. 5
LOCK IN YOUR CHANGES. Tap "Done" in the top right of the Ringtone window, then "Done" at the top right of your contact's page. Your contact's individual ringtone is set.[1]
